BREEDS WE USE
we’ve chosen four iconic breeds of dogs (or mixes thereof) for our psychiatric service dog program: Belgian Malinois, Border Collies, Dutch Shepherds and German Shepherds.
these breeds have a long history of working aptitude, loyalty, intelligence, eagerness to please and resiliency — making them capable of handling diverse environments while performing a variety of tasks for their person.
additionally, these breeds are elite athletes making them perfect partners for everyday, outdoor adventures which is an integral part of a healthy lifestyle.
while each of these breeds share similar characteristics, every dog is different with a unique personality and appearance — including pups born within the same litter.
just like people, dogs are individuals. and we spend quite a bit of time getting to know each applicant so we can match them with the best possible fit for a lifelong partnership with one of our psychiatric service dogs.
