Getting Acquainted

let’s get to know you.

we’ll first want to learn more about you, your lifestyle, and your specific needs. the getting acquainted phase helps us to select the candidates that will fit easily into your life while meeting all of your specific needs.

after establishing your priorities and sharing photos and videos of various dogs, we’ll begin to help you narrow the choices down to a few select individuals we feel best meet all of your criteria.

Visit the Stellina Team

once your application is approved, we’ll invite you to visit with us — usually during one of our in-town training sessions somewhere in Napa Valley, California.

this gives you a chance to get to know us and our dogs. it also allows you the opportunity to make sure you’re comfortable with the team of people who will be guiding you along the way.

you’ll learn what it takes to make a STELLINA Service Dog — and have the chance to meet the dogs and discover their unique personalities.

at the same time, we will have a chance to speak in person with you about the needs and requirements of your dog.

Matching You with Your Service Dog

once you have had a chance to meet our dogs, we can begin to narrow down a selection of dogs that will best suit your needs. we will continue to guide you through the process of envisioning a STELLINA Service Dog by your side each day and what a good match will be.

even if you remain uncertain which dog to choose, it’s usually obvious to us which dog connects with you and will best augment your individual needs. finding the best fit is one of our priorities, as pairing you with the correct dog will ensure a lifetime of calm and confidence in your individual dog. we are happy to help guide your decision.

Pre-Placement Integration

once you’ve been matched with your STELLINA Service Dog, we begin “pre-placement integration”.

this is the phase in which you and your new service dog begin training together prior to living together. your newly matched service dog will remain living with its trainer while you take weekly lessons together.

you’ll meet with us on a weekly basis at various locations in Napa Valley to start learning ‘the ropes’. it’s an exciting time for both of you!
